Before you book

How to check your coverage

Most insurance plans cover mental health services, but many people don’t realize the benefits available to them. A short call can tell you what to expect.

  1. Call your insurance company

Call the number on the back of your insurance card, or check your plan’s online portal.
  2. Ask about therapy coverage

Ask specifically about coverage for therapy sessions, copays, and any limits on the number of sessions.
  3. Confirm the details

Ask whether your plan includes outpatient mental health benefits, whether your clinician is in network, and what deductibles and authorization requirements apply.
  4. Using an EAP? Start with your EAP provider

Contact your EAP provider or HR representative to confirm your authorized sessions, eligibility, and any requirements for additional care.

EAP benefits

Using your Employee Assistance Program

We work with Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to help you access short-term counseling and emotional wellness support through your workplace benefits.

The number of sessions available depends on your EAP provider, your employer-sponsored plan, and your authorization. There is no single session cap that applies to every EAP client, so contact your EAP provider or HR representative to confirm your authorized sessions first.

When your EAP sessions run out

When you reach your authorized EAP session limit, you may be able to transition to using your private health insurance for continued therapy, provided your plan includes outpatient mental health benefits and your clinician is in network.

Verify coverage, copays, deductibles, and authorization requirements before transitioning. Self-pay may also be an option.

Paying without insurance

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
