How virtual sessions work

What to expect when you meet with your therapist online.

  1. Fewer barriers between you and care.

    Meeting online takes the commute out of therapy. It can also make it easier to find a time that works and to reach a therapist who understands your cultural background and lived experiences.

  2. Your sessions are planned around your needs.

    Session length, frequency, and treatment plans are individualized according to your clinical needs and provider arrangements.

  3. The work continues between sessions.

    Between sessions, you’re encouraged to practice therapeutic skills, apply strategies discussed in treatment, and work toward the goals you’ve set.

  4. Your therapist sets the guidelines for contact between sessions.

    Any additional communication between sessions is guided by your therapist’s policies, clinical appropriateness, and established boundaries.
